Indian (laurel) bay leaves
May contain traces of celery, mustard and sesame seeds.
Good to know
Indian laurel does not have much in common with the "real laurel" – it is rather the leaves of the cinnamon tree. The taste of the Indian laurel is also much more intense and much sweeter, which is why it can't be used as a substitute for the real laurel – rather, it can replace the Indonesian laurel. But it is indispensable for Indian cuisine and whenever there is talk of laurel in original Indian recipes, the Indian laurel is meant.
Add the whole leaf to the dish.
Full taste development
Fry in fat or oil and then simmer with it.
Add 2-3 bay leaves to the boiling water of potatoes, vegetables, pasta or rice.
