  • Origin

  • Good to know

You are looking for a spice that you can use as an all-rounder to give your food a new nuance and that fits everything. Then coriander seeds are your choice. Coriander is one of the oldest spices in the world and is now grown in many parts of the world. In the 18th century it was somewhat out of fashion in Europe and was mainly used for the production of beer and gin – and is still found in some Belgian beers. Coriander seeds taste completely different from the fresh coriander, which is more likely to be characterized as acidic-sharp, but essential for Asian dishes. The seeds are also often used in curry mixtures, but are also popular in baked goods and soups.

  • Usage

Coriander seeds can be used whole or ground; the second is better with a short cooking time, however, as a fuller aroma is then developed. In general, you can dose generously, but it is always possible to combine coriander seeds with other spices – here especially cumin. But also, the combination with herbs results in a good harmony. Coriander can even be used to compensate for "spice mishaps" by compensating the spice, which has been given too much into a dish, by the same amount of ground coriander.

  • Full taste development

roasted = nutty aroma / not roasted = floral aroma

  • Tipp

Ground also suitable for thickening sauces, as the paper-like shells and the coarse, granular structure of the seeds absorb a lot of moisture. For a quick seasoning combination, mix coriander seeds under the peppercorns in the pepper mill. For sweet dishes ALWAYS use ground coriander.

  • Health aspects

Stop abdominal pain and digestive problems of any kind.

    Abdominal Area

Ideal for irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, bloating and intestinal cramps: 10-20% of people in the Western world end up with the so-called irritable bowel syndrome in the form of abdominal pain and cramps, accompanied by constipation and/or diarrhea. Coriander slows down the transport of food from the stomach and triggers tensions of the muscles in the digestive tract. This leads to fewer stomach upsets, indigestion and bloating.

    Blood & Heart

Prevention of heart attacks and lowering cholesterol: Coriander has been shown in many studies to reduce "bad" LDL cholesterol and increase the "good" HDL cholesterol. In addition, coriander also has a relaxing effect on the arteries and thus lowers blood pressure.

Should be consumed regularly if you suffer from diabetes, rheumatism or joint pain: Coriander can lower blood sugar levels and increase insulin levels and is therefore traditionally used as a cure for diabetes, rheumatism and joint pain.

    Liver & Kidney

Fatty liver: Up to 16 million (!) People in Germany suffer from a so-called fatty liver, which was not caused by excessive alcohol consumption, but often by poor diet. This disease, which can be described as a disease of prosperity, usually affects people between the ages of 40 and 60 (increasingly women). Coriander can help the liver regenerate while protecting liver cells and is a way back to a healthy diet.
